OnePlus confirms launch details for upcoming foldable phone
- OnePlus has confirmed that it’s launching a foldable phone in the second half of the year.
- The device will be a flagship with the “signature OnePlus fast and smooth experience.”
OnePlus took to MWC 2023 to showcase a new concept device, but that’s not it for the company’s announcements at the event. After years of rumors, OnePlus has finally confirmed it will launch a foldable phone later this year.
OnePlus shared very few details about its upcoming foldable phone during a panel discussion hosted at MWC 2023. For one, it said that the phone will launch in the second half of this year. The company previously teased a major announcement for Q3 2023. That narrows down the OnePlus foldable phone’s launch to sometime between July and September. The company could be targetting the same launch timeframe as Samsung’s next Galaxy Z foldables.
As for specs, OnePlus says its first foldable phone will have the “signature OnePlus fast and smooth experience.” It will be a flagship phone, the company confirmed. That means you can expect a top-of-the-line Qualcomm Snapdragon chip to power the device. A tipster recently claimed the OnePlus foldable will feature a large screen with a 2K display resolution. This suggests we’re looking at a Galaxy Z Fold-style phone. It also points out that OnePlus may not copy its mother brand Oppo’s Find N2 foldable, since that one isn’t equipped with a 2K display.
“We want to launch a device that aims to be at the pinnacle experience of today’s foldable market,” said Kinder Liu, President and COO of OnePlus, commented during the panel discussion. The company will reveal more information about the OnePlus foldable in the coming months.
