150W charging might come to a mid-range OnePlus phone soon
- OnePlus might be getting ready to bring 150W charging to the Nord 3.
- It’s claimed that the Nord 3 could be based on the upcoming realme GT Neo 3.
OnePlus announced yesterday that a future device would offer brand-new 150W charging technology in Q2 2022, featuring a 5,000mAh battery capable of reaching 100% in 17 minutes. However, stablemate realme also announced that the upcoming GT Neo 3 device would offer 150W tech.
Now, Android Central has reported that this 150W OnePlus phone could be the OnePlus Nord 3. More specifically, the outlet cited an “insider” source at OnePlus who said that the Nord 3 is based on the aforementioned realme GT Neo 3.
We’ll have to wait for more sources to corroborate this claim, but it wouldn’t be the first time OnePlus rebranded a stablemate’s phone for the Nord lineup with few if any changes. For example, the OnePlus Nord N100 was based on the OPPO A53 while the Nord CE 2 is a tweaked version of the OPPO Reno 7.
Nevertheless, realme has already confirmed that the GT Neo 3 would be getting a Dimensity 8100 5G processor. OnePlus co-founder Pete Lau confirmed on Weibo that the company will launch a phone with this chipset too (presumably the Nord 3 if Android Central‘s leak is true).
The company has traditionally refrained from launching mainline Nord phones in North America though, so we’re guessing that this device will be limited to the likes of Europe and India.
