Speed Test G: OnePlus Nord CE vs Pixel 4a (A clear winner, but does it matter?)
OnePlus just launched a new mid-ranger in the OnePlus Nord CE (the “CE” stands for “Core Edition”). Meanwhile, the Google Pixel 4a from last year is still a viable competitor. But who would win in a OnePlus Nord CE vs Google Pixel 4a bout with the Speed Test G suite? Well, that’s exactly what we set out to determine.
Our own Gary Sims pit the two phones together to see which one offers the best raw processing power. It’s probably of little surprise to know that the Nord CE wins handily in every category. This is mostly due to its processor being a Snapdragon 750G while the Pixel 4a’s processor is the weaker Snapdragon 730G.

However, even knowing the results of the OnePlus Nord CE vs Google Pixel 4a bout, does it really matter? Sure, the Nord CE might have a more powerful processor, but the Pixel 4a still trumps it in numerous ways. The Pixel 4a has a better camera (even with fewer lenses on the back!) and a far superior software update schedule.
Granted, the Pixel 4a is also a bit more expensive with a price of £349 compared to the Nord CE’s price of £299. Still, the Pixel 4a offers quite a bit over the Nord CE, so it’s not all about raw numbers. Let us know what you think in the comments!
