OnePlus could reveal a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 phone at the end of the year
- A leaker suggests that OnePlus could reveal a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 phone at the end of the year.
- This phone would likely be a OnePlus 11 series device.
- The device would presumably be revealed after the Snapdragon Summit in mid-November.
OnePlus launched two flagship-level phones in 2022, namely the OnePlus 10 Pro and OnePlus 10T. Now, a leaker in China has claimed that the company could reveal a next-generation phone before the end of the year.
Weibo tipster Digital Chat Station claimed that OnePlus will reveal a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 (SM8550) smartphone at the end of the year. The leaker also asserted that performance would be one focus area for the phone, according to rough machine translation.
There’s no word on what this phone could be, but it stands to reason that this would be a OnePlus 11 series handset. OnePlus didn’t launch a vanilla OnePlus 10 this year (only launching the OnePlus 10 Pro and OnePlus 10T), so we’re guessing that this new device could be the OnePlus 11 Pro.
Qualcomm is expected to launch the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 at its Snapdragon Summit in mid-November, coming a little earlier than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 reveal in December 2021. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 reveal was quickly followed by next-generation flagship phone launches from Xiaomi (Xiaomi 12) and Motorola (Edge X30) in December. However, these launches were restricted to China. So don’t be surprised if this Snapdragon 8 Gen 2-toting OnePlus phone is a China-only reveal too, especially after the OnePlus 10 Pro debuted in China first.
