TL;DR
  • OnePlus is reportedly developing a new sub-flagship phone with an unreleased Snapdragon chip.
  • The supposed OnePlus “Turbo Pro” (likely Turbo 7 Pro) is rumored to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 Pro.
  • The phone could also come with a 200MP camera, a 186Hz display, and a 9,000mAh battery.

OnePlus hasn’t particularly had a great 2026. The company shut down its operations in the US and Europe, letting parent OPPO take over service operations in the latter region. That, however, isn’t stopping it from launching some truly impressive hardware in China, as we saw with the OnePlus 16. Now, the company could be preparing to launch another compelling product with a high-end Snapdragon chip, and this one might even cross the border.

OnePlus is rumored to be developing a new phone for its Turbo series with a yet-to-be-launched 8-series chip from Qualcomm. Leaker Digital Chat Station shared tentative specs for the upcoming Turbo Pro in a now-edited Weibo post. According to the leak, the phone could feature a 6.78-inch display with a 185Hz refresh rate and 1.5K resolution. The phone is said to come with a 200MP primary camera and will also support an external cooling fan as an accessory. Additionally, the phone is also said to feature a 9,000mAh battery, with engineering samples reaching 10,000mAh.

Although these specifications sound similar to the OnePlus 16, it’s easy to assume we could see a slightly watered-down version of components, especially the display and the camera — just as we did with the OnePlus 15 and 15R last year.

The more intriguing bit from the leak is the phone’s supposed chipset. The leaker claims it would be equipped with “a 3nm SM8845 Pro,” alluding to the unreleased Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 Pro. Based on the naming, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 Pro is expected to sit between the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, which powered the likes of OnePlus 15R, and the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5V, a less powerful version of last year’s Elite.

The Pro is likely to serve Qualcomm’s customers that make sub-flagship phones and don’t want their lean margins gutted in an attempt to purchase the more expensive Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 — or its rumored non-Elite version, which, too, has yet to launch.

There’s no clarity on what this phone could be called, but the name OnePlus Turbo 7 Pro isn’t unlikely. Furthermore, while the Turbo series is exclusive to China, Qualcomm rebranded the Turbo 6 as the Nord 6 last year and launched it in India. So, it’s possible this new Turbo Pro could reach the Indian market too. Needless to say, it wouldn’t launch in the US, and you’re allowed to feel bad about it.

While the leaker indicates the possibility of this phone being launched around the end of the year, we can’t say much about its presence in other markets yet.
