OnePlus TVs with 1080p camera, Google Duo support to launch soon (Update)
- OnePlus is bringing a new TV series to India.
- Referred to as the U1S line, it could come in three display sizes with 4K resolution, and a camera for Google Duo calls.
- OnePlus confirmed the series will debut on June 10.
Update: May 28, 2021 (3 AM ET): OnePlus has now confirmed in an emailed release that the U1S TV series will debut at its Summer Launch event. The event will kick off at 7 PM IST (9:30 AM ET) on June 10.
Original article: May 27, 2021 (2:56 AM ET): OnePlus recently added to its Y series TV offerings with a new 40-inch model, but it may not be done adding to its TV lineup this year. According to Ishan Agarwal and Pricebaba, OnePlus will soon debut the U1S TV series in India.
The series will come in 50, 55, and 65-inch guises with all three packing 4K resolution. HDR10 Plus, HLG, and MEMC with a maximum refresh rate of 60Hz also reportedly feature. Speakers, tuned by Dynaudio, pack a 30W total power output.
It all sounds fairly standard, then. But the U1S series seemingly has a trick up its sleeve — a built-in camera. Capable of 1080p, the camera will reportedly pack Google Duo support, allowing users to place and receive calls directly from the TV. For those who value larger screens for communication, this could be a big selling point. Naturally, it’s joined by a microphone for “smart voice control” and summoning Assistant on Android TV 10, too. OnePlus’ content discovery feature, Oxygen Play, may arrive in tow.
When could the OnePlus U1S TV series launch?
As for pricing, the U1S series will reportedly occupy the Rs 52,999 (~$728) range when it debuts. That would put the U1S line below the range-topping and company-first Q1 series but above the original U series.
As for availability, OnePlus confirmed it’s hosting a “Smooth Summer” launch event. The U1S series could make its bow there alongside the rumored OnePlus Nord 2 or Nord CE. However, the company has not yet revealed an exact date for the event or which devices would feature.
