This upcoming mid-ranger wins our award for ugliest camera housing
- OPPO A58 images and specs have leaked online ahead of its release.
- The images show a rather ugly rear camera housing.
- Otherwise, this is definitely a budget-tier smartphone.
We’ve seen our share of smartphones with ugly camera housings in 2022, but the OnePlus Nord 2T probably had the worst design so far. However, it looks like Oppo has outdone its sub-brand in this regard.
91mobiles and Evan Blass posted images of the so-called OPPO A58, and the first thing you’ll notice about the device is its ugly camera housing. Check out the image at the top of the page and the picture below.
The images show two circular camera bumps here, but the issue is that the section that houses these bumps extends down the back of the phone. In fact, there’s so much space here that OPPO has decided to add “innovative AI camera” branding to this housing. It’s almost as if there were supposed to be more cameras here but the company forgot to add them.
What do you think of the OPPO A58 design?
In any event, the 91mobiles report details some apparent OPPO A58 specs too. You’re looking at a distinctly budget affair here, with features like a Dimensity 700 SoC, 6.56-inch HD+ LCD panel (with notch and 90Hz refresh rate), and a 3,880mAh battery with 33W charging.
The outlet asserts that the phone will also have a 50MP main camera and 108MP secondary rear shooter. But we’re guessing the latter is a typo given that the Dimensity 700 only supports 64MP cameras. Otherwise, you’re also getting an 8MP selfie camera, ColorOS 12.1, and a 3.5mm port.
