OPPO launches Color OS 13, hitting OPPO Find X5 series today
- OPPO has launched the Color OS 13 update.
- The Find X5 and X5 Pro are getting the update today.
OPPO previously confirmed last week that Color OS 13 was on the way, and the company has now fully revealed the Android 13-based update. And if it all seems a little familiar, it’s because the recently revealed Oxygen OS 13 shares plenty in common with OPPO’s new Android skin.
Much like OnePlus, OPPO is touting a so-called aquamorphic design language. This means you can expect plenty of blue and white hues as well as tweaked system animations and nature-themed always-on display animations.
What else are you getting?
The shared trappings don’t end there, as we’ve also got more always-on display customizations (such as displaying food delivery info and Spotify controls on the AOD), the ability to create large folders (and open apps without opening these folders first), and a more secure file safe.
OPPO has also brought plenty of other features to the table. There’s auto-pixelation functionality for profile pictures and names in screenshots, a Meeting Assistant (reducing notifications, prioritizing wireless data, and letting you take notes via a window), notification shade/quick toggle tweaks for landscape orientation, and a so-called dynamic computing engine for smoother performance. The company adds that Color OS 13 enables the Find X5 Pro’s always-on display to run at 1Hz (delivering power consumption savings of up to 30%).
Other tweaks include a more seamless Multi-Screen Connect feature for PC connectivity, cross-device support with the OPPO Pad Air (including copy/paste), and several Android 13 features (such as app streaming to Chrome OS, Fast Pair, and automatically deleting your clipboard history).
Devices getting Color OS 13
OPPO confirmed that the Find X5 and Find X5 Pro would be the first devices to get Color OS 13, starting today. The firm adds that it plans to update almost 35 smartphones to Color OS 13 within the year, with over 20 devices getting it in 2023.
Unfortunately, OPPO didn’t confirm a final roadmap but the company held a pre-briefing earlier this month where it said that the OPPO Find X3 Pro would receive the update in August too.
