A cheaper Galaxy Z Flip 3 rival could be in the works
- OPPO is apparently working on its first clamshell foldable phone.
- It’s believed that the phone will be cheaper than the Galaxy Z Flip 3.
OPPO made tech headlines in December when it announced the Find N, being a Galaxy Z Fold 3 rival with a more compact design. It looks like the company isn’t stopping there, as a tipster has just claimed that OPPO is targeting the clamshell foldable form factor.
Leaker Mukul Sharma and 91mobiles reported that OPPO is working on its first clamshell foldable, adding that it’s likely to launch in Q3 2022. In a rather interesting twist, Sharma says the new OPPO foldable will be cheaper than the Galaxy Z Flip 3.
The Galaxy Z Flip 3 is already pretty cheap for a foldable, starting at $999 in the US. This price point makes it the cheapest foldable in the likes of Europe and the US. So we’re very keen to see what kind of price OPPO apparently has in mind for a clamshell foldable.
The Galaxy Z Flip 3 offered some mediocre cameras and disappointing endurance, so we hope OPPO learns from Samsung’s mistakes in this regard. We’re also hopeful that this device is available in more than just China, bucking the trend of Chinese brands launching foldables in their home market only.
