OPPO announces Reno: Is this its next flagship phone?
Oppo Vice President Brian Shen last night announced Reno, an upcoming line of smartphones from OPPO. OPPO also shared the smartphone series’ colorful logo on Twitter, with the logo possibly indicating that the Reno line will cater to the younger crowd.
OPPO remains tight-lipped on what could be the first Reno smartphone (via GizmoChina). That said, the company announced it’ll launch the first Reno smartphone on April 10 in China.

GizmoChina also noted that OPPO Vice President Shen Yiren teased an upcoming smartphone that will launch in April. According to Yiren, the upcoming flagship features the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor and a 4,065mAh battery.
The phone also features OPPO’s 10x optical zoom technology, which the company showed off during MWC 2019 alongside a triple-camera setup. At the event, OPPO confirmed that the three cameras support focal lengths from 16mm to 160mm. The company also confirmed that the 10x optical zoom technology would debut in its next product, which is scheduled for a Q2 2019 reveal.
April falls right in the beginning of Q2 2019, so perhaps the first OPPO phone with 10x zoom capabilities is the first Reno smartphone. We won’t know for sure until April rolls around, and OPPO has refused to comment on the matter when contacted by us.
