Pixel 11 users report bursts of static noise ruining their videos

As we move further away from the launch of the Pixel 11 series, Google’s latest and greatest handsets are getting into more hands. That means a growing number of people are now putting the smartphones through their paces to see what they can do. Some users who were testing out the video recording capabilities have discovered a strange and frustrating issue with zoomed-in video.

One Redditor who upgraded to the Pixel 11 Pro XL says they attended a house show the other night to test out the camera. When they reviewed their recordings, they noticed “static bursts” every five seconds. According to the poster, this issue only appeared on videos where Video Boost was enabled.

As a quick refresher, Video Boost debuted on the Pixel 8 Pro in 2023. It’s a Pixel camera feature that enhances video color, lighting, stabilization, and low-light detail. Videos taken with this tool turned on are uploaded to Google’s servers for processing and sent back to your device.

Several Pixel 11 series users have chimed in on the thread, stating that they are also having the same problem. Fortunately, it appears there may be a way around the bug. One commenter suggests that Audio Zoom (a feature that boosts the sound of the zoomed-in subject while cutting down background noise) may be at fault. The original poster claims that after clearing the cache for the Camera app and disabling Audio Zoom, they are no longer hearing audio glitches in their Video Boost recordings.
