Pixel 6 owners aren't happy with rapidly yellowing official cases
- Some Pixel 6 owners have complained about quickly deteriorating $30 protective cases.
- Affected cases have turned yellow and warped after less than three months in some instances.
- Some users also said the case didn’t fit their phone out-of-the-box.
The Pixel 6 phones are Google’s most successful Pixel devices yet, but they’ve had more than their fair share of issues though. It now looks like we can add rapidly deteriorating official cases to the list of complaints as well.
Some users on Reddit and Amazon (h/t: The Verge) have bemoaned the quality of Google’s $30 plastic protective case. The complaints mainly center on the cases quickly turning yellow, warping, and not fitting the phone properly from the get-go. One Redditor noted that their case was both warped around the buttons and had turned yellow — check out their image below.
Some affected users noted that the yellowing in particular happened in less than two months, but several others on Reddit and Amazon said their case deteriorated in just two weeks. This is definitely not normal in our books, as we’d expect this discoloration after roughly a year. This saga is also compounded by Google charging $30 for a type of case that usually retails for $10 or less.
It doesn’t seem to be the first time plastic Pixel cases saw rapid deterioration though, as some Pixel 5a owners reported discolored plastic cases after mere days of use. Hopefully, Google offers higher quality replacements for affected Pixel 6 owners, as it certainly seems like corners may have been cut on quality control.
