Pixel 7 may have limited storage options, but it's not all bad news

Google's Pixel 7 may only come with 128GB or 256GB of storage in Europe.

TL;DR
  • The European market might only get the Google Pixel 7 in two internal storage configurations.
  • Both the base model and the Pro could come with 128GB or 256GB of storage.
  • The US market will still likely get 512GB Pixel 7 models as it did with the Pixel 6 series.

As we inch closer to the Pixel 7’s October 6 release date, new details about the smartphone are emerging. The latest information suggests that Europe could be getting the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro in two internal storage configurations.

According to Roland Quandt of WinFuture, the European market might be able to choose from two options when it comes to storage on both the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro. These options include a 128GB and a 256GB model.

This is a big deal as it’s more choice than what European consumers got when the Pixel 6 came out. When the smaller Pixel 6 flagship initially launched in Europe, only the 128GB variant was available for purchase.

Although Google did release a Pixel 6 with 512GB of storage, Google only applied that strategy to select countries, like the US. Anybody in the US can likely expect that there will be a 512GB variant of the Pixel 7 available in stores when we get to launch day.

Despite having two options, it would be nice if Google would allow users to expand storage by adding a microSD slot. Unfortunately, that’s not a common practice in premium smartphones these days. In a poll we conducted earlier this year, we asked our readers what they would prefer: a phone with 128GB and a microSD slot or 256GB and no slot. After receiving a total of 5,790 votes, we found that over 71% of you said you would prefer a phone with 128GB storage if it came with a microSD slot.
