Google's Pixel Buds are now shipping from the Google Store
Back in October when Google introduced the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL, the company took the wraps off several other devices as well. One of the most intriguing of the bunch are the Google Pixel Buds. The Bluetooth earbuds went on sale at the same time as the Pixels but have taken a little longer to get out of the gate. Now, Google is finally sending out shipping notifications for early orders.
The buds are Bluetooth, but not completely wireless. They connect with a wire between the two so you won’t have to worry about losing one of your buds. That wire is actually wrapped in fabric and extends through the earpiece. You can adjust the loop’s size so the earbuds will stay securely in your ears. One of the biggest features of the Pixel Buds is real-time translation. When you pair the Pixel Buds with a Pixel phone, you can use them to translate a conversation in real time from over 40 supported languages. Even though you’ll need to have the Google Translate app open on your phone to listen, you’ll hear the translation through the Pixel Buds.
And of course, Google Assistant is here too. Google has been building Assistant into everything these days and the Pixel Buds are no exception. You can interact with Assistant just like you would through a Google Home or on your phone when you make voice queries. A touch of the right earbud results in Assistant relaying information about the time and notifications. You can also press the earbud and ask it questions and have the answers read back to you through the earbuds.
The Pixel Buds are available in three colors – Just Black, Clearly White, and Kinda Blue – although all three colors are out of stock right now. If you’d like to join a waitlist, hit the button below.
