The Pixel Tablet already has an update. Here's why you should install it ASAP.
- An update is available for the Google Pixel Tablet on day one.
- The update weighs 201MB.
- It brings emoji wallpapers and cinematic wallpapers, so you’ll want to install it right now.
If you’ve already received your pre-order of Google’s latest Android tablet and you’re busy installing apps and trying new features, I recommend you take a deep breath and head to the System Update section first. A new update should already be available for your Pixel Tablet, and you’ll want to install it immediately to enable some Pixel-only features.
The update weighs 201MB and brings the tablet from build number TD2A.230203.28 to TQ3A.230605.009.A1. (Those numbers may not be the same in different countries, though.)
As far as I can tell, the update enabled two features that were missing from my Pixel Tablet when I first started using it: cinematic wallpapers and emoji wallpapers, two cool ways to spruce up your home screen. Both of these rolled out to the Pixel line-up as part of a Feature Drop last week but were nowhere to be found in the wallpaper picker of my tablet. They showed up right after I updated it, though. Currently, the two features are exclusive to the Pixel line-up — no other Android phone or tablet supports them.
Without a changelog, we don’t know much else about this update, but it probably brings a lot of bug fixes and potentially some other changes to the Pixel Tablet, so be sure you download it as soon as possible. Given that this is a (somewhat) new product category for Google, you definitely want to be on the newest software version to lower your risk of running into bugs.
