In-app screen pinning and other features come to Play Movies & TV version 3.6
Among other useful features, Movies & TV will now allow you to pin a single movie or television show to the screen from inside the app itself. Screen pinning was first introduced in the Android 5.0 Lollipop update, but it only extended to pinning certain apps to the screen. Now, thanks to Google, parenting just got a little easier.
When it comes to screen pinning, it’s not just for keeping a child focused on the media content. It’s also for you! Have you ever needed to grab something, set your device down, then pick it up only to realize you’ve completely lost your place in the movie? Screen pinning will fix that. There is a little speed bump involved if you need to fast forward or rewind, though. Pausing or rewinding is disabled once a movie or show is pinned, so if you need to pause, you’ll need to un-pin the video, then proceed with pausing it. We see how that could be a little annoying, but we think the added functionality is worth the effort.
The app update also introduces a new Downloads page, now separating content into My Movies and My Episodes. Google has also ditched the card view and began organizing your downloads into lists, making it much easier to read.
Be sure to check the Play Store link below to see if you’ve gotten the update yet. If not, and you absolutely need the update to version 3.6.11, use your typical precaution and go ahead and grab the APK from Gapps Early.
