POCO M2 Pro gets certification, India launch inches closer
- The POCO M2 Pro has passed through India’s BIS regulatory website.
- There’s no word on design, specs, or a release window just yet.
Xiaomi’s POCO brand has already launched two POCO phones this year, in the form of the POCO X2 and the POCO F2 Pro. It isn’t stopping there though, as we’ve already seen evidence for a so-called POCO M2 Pro.
Now, MySmartPrice has spotted a listing for the POCO M2 Pro on India’s BIS certification website. The name itself isn’t listed on the website, but the listing mentions the POCO name and the M2003J6CI model number. This model number has previously been tied to the upcoming phone.
This wouldn’t be the first time we see a website list the upcoming POCO device, as Xiaomi outed the phone itself earlier this year. The Chinese brand accidentally listed the phone in the RF exposure section of its Indian website.
XDA-Developers previously noted that its apparent code-name of “gram” matches the Redmi Note 9 Pro as well. This suggests that the POCO M2 Pro is either a Redmi Note 9 Pro variant or features the same Snapdragon 720G chipset. But it’s also possible that this is completely different from Xiaomi’s earlier release.
Either way, it looks like India should ready itself for yet another POCO handset in 2020. And if it’s anything like the previous two phones, then we’re expecting it to offer great specs at a competitive price.
