Pokémon Go wants players to explore during its Adventure Week event
Fans of Niantic Labs’ mobile AR game Pokémon Go have to go outside in order to find and catch Pokémon, because that’s how the game was designed. In fact, the developer says that as of May 11, players have traveled a total of 15.8 billion kilometers while playing the game. Later this week, Niantic will launch a new in-game event, Adventure Week, designed to help players get some more time outside.
From May 18 through May 25, Adventure Week will offer players a bunch of in-game bonuses. They include more items awarded at each PokéStop than normal, and your Buddy Pokémon will also find Candies four times faster during Adventure Week. You can purchase new Poké Balls for 50 percent off their normal price from the in-game store during the week, and a new avatar item, the Explorer’s Hat, will be added to your wardrobe inventory.
Finally, Pokémon Go players can expect to see, and hopefully catch, new Rock-type Pokémon like Omanyte, Kabuto, and their Evolutions versions, during the Adventure Week event.
A few weeks ago, Niantic’s Asian General Manager Yoshiji Kawashima hinted that Pokémon Go will be getting a big content update this summer. It could bring long-awaited and requested features like Legendary events, group raids, PvP battles, and player trading to the game.
