Razer launches new Blade 17 with Core i9 chipset as well as new Blade 15 Base
- Razer just launched two new laptops: the 2021 Razer Blade 17 as well as a new Blade 15 Base.
- The Blade 17 is a desktop replacement machine that can run up to an 11th-gen Intel Core i9 processor.
- The Blade 15 Base is a Razer.com exclusive with up to an 11th-gen Intel Core i7 chipset.
It was only a few weeks ago that Razer launched its first AMD-powered laptop, the 2021 Razer Blade 14. While that was a historical release considering its CPU, Razer isn’t about to abandon Intel-based machines entirely.
That’s why today the company is announcing a new 17-inch laptop alongside a new 15-inch laptop, both with 11th-gen Intel chipsets under the hood.
First, we have the Razer Blade 17, which you can see in the image above. Its highest-end configuration includes an 11th-gen Intel Core i9 processor, making it the most powerful Intel system in Razer’s history. It has a max turbo frequency of 4.9GHz, which is really, really fast. When you pair that with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 GPU, you get a gaming powerhouse laptop that could easily be a desktop replacement.
If you’re not interested in replacing your desktop, though, Razer has three display options for the new Blade 17. Are pixels your priority? There’s a 4K option with a 120Hz refresh rate. If you want a nice mix of pixels and smoothness, there’s a 2K option with a 240Hz refresh rate. And if you don’t care as much about pixels as you do about smoothness, there’s a Full HD model with a whopping 360Hz refresh rate.
The new Blade 17 starts at $2,399. The top-of-the-line model with all the trimmings will set you back $3,699, though. Pre-orders are open now at Razer.com and select retail partners.
Razer Blade 15 Base
If you want something a bit more compact than the previously described 17-inch monster, the Razer Blade 15 Base might be worth checking out. It doesn’t offer a Core i9 chipset, but it does offer an option with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070. It also will save you some cash over the 17-inch model.
The Blade 15 Base starts at $1,799 with the maxed-out model peaking at $2,199, making its top-of-the-line variant cheaper than the entry-level variant of the Blade 17. The 15-inch model is a Razer.com exclusive unless you happen to leave near a physical Razer store.
