Razer and Fossil made a Wear OS 3-capable smartwatch, and it looks sick

Global gaming brand Razer is dipping into the smartwatch scene. Announced at CES 2022, the company has collaborated with Fossil to create a limited-edition Wear OS device, the Razer X Fossil Gen 6. The flashy, co-branded device touts much of the industry’s top tech with a splash of Razer’s iconic branding.

With a black 44mm case and a bright AMOLED display, the Razer X Fossil Gen 6 comes with three Razer-exclusive watch faces: Analog, Text, and Chroma. It also features elements of a Razer user interface as well as two branded 22mm silicone straps in green and black.

Beneath the surface, the new device boasts all the specs and features of the Fossil Gen 6. That includes increased performance and improved health and wellness sensors. The Fossil Gen 6 smartwatch is also among the first devices to run on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Wear 4100 Plus platform, one of the fastest wearable chips out at the moment. Thanks to the 4100 Plus, the Gen 6 line offers a 30% increase in performance compared to the Gen 5. This means faster app load time, a fluid user experience, and more efficient power use. All of these will feature on the Razer model.

In addition to improved battery consumption, the smartwatch can reach an 80% charge with just over 30 minutes of charging. It can also utilize Fossil’s custom smart battery modes, a hot feature of the Fossil stable.

Other device highlights include standalone GPS, a built-in microphone, NFC, an IP rating of 3ATM, 8GB of storage, 1GB of RAM, and an SpO2 sensor. All Fossil Gen 6 devices also offer improved heart rate sensors, as well as support for sleep tracking. At launch, Razer X Fossil Gen 6 users can tap into Cardio Fitness Level tracking.

Most significantly, the Razer X Fossil Gen 6 will only get better. The watch is on the shortlist of devices eligible for Google’s big Wear OS 3 update, coming mid-2022.
