realme is launching a Pro Plus phone for the first time

realme was forced to delay the realme 9 series launch to 2022 due to the global chip shortage. There’s no word on a launch window just yet, but it looks like an Indian launch will happen soon and we’ll be getting a Pro Plus model as well.

realme vice-president Madhav Sheth posted a poll on Twitter yesterday, asking users to guess which realme smartphone is coming to India “soon.” The poll answers are either the realme 9 Pro or the realme 9 Pro Plus.

Sheth subsequently announced that both devices would be coming to India, but it’s unclear if this means realme will skip the standard realme 9.

Nevertheless, previously leaked realme 9 Pro details point to a Snapdragon 695 SoC, a 120Hz OLED screen with an in-display fingerprint sensor, and a 5,000mAh battery with 33W charging. The phone is also tipped to arrive with a triple rear camera system (64MP+8MP+2MP).

There’s no word on the realme 9 Pro Plus specs, but we’re guessing that this device would bump up charging speeds (the realme 8 Pro offered 65W speeds after all), deliver a better chipset, and offer improved camera capabilities.
