Redmi teases new devices: Redmi 9, Redmi Note 9 series incoming? (Update)
Update, February 6 2020 (2:10AM ET): Redmi India has confirmed an event on February 11, and it will launch a phone with a 5,000mAh battery, textured rear cover, and dual rear cameras.
The company has also teased a new device category at the event, with signs pointing to this device being a Redmi-branded USB-C power bank. You can check out the full story over here.
Original article, February 3 2020 (2:33AM ET): The Redmi brand is synonymous with quality budget phones, offering plenty of bang for your buck. We’ve already seen the Redmi 8 and Redmi Note 8 series in the second half of 2019, but it looks like we could get more devices very soon.
Xiaomi global vice-president Manu Kumar Jain has teased the imminent launch of new Redmi devices on Twitter. We also get a video that doesn’t tell us much, save for the fact that the devices are “coming soon.”
#Redmi has always been synonymous with POWER! 💪🥊 Power-packed phones
🚄 Powerful processors

The tweet and video clearly don’t give us many clues, but February 2019 saw the Indian launch of the Redmi Note 7 series. Going by this timetable, we therefore expect the Xiaomi sub-brand to launch the Redmi Note 9 family.
We’re not quite sure what to expect from the Redmi Note 9 series, but the Redmi Note 8 offered a 48MP quad rear camera setup and a Snapdragon 665 processor. Meanwhile, the Pro model delivered a 64MP quad rear camera combo and Helio G90T processor.
We also saw the Redmi 7 series launching in China back in March 2019, before coming to India in April 2019. So there’s a chance we could see the Redmi 9 series — either as part of the Note family launch or on its own.
91Mobiles reported that the Redmi 9 will offer the new MediaTek Helio G70 processor, citing industry sources. This would make for a major upgrade over the Redmi 8’s Snapdragon 439 chipset, offering more powerful CPU cores and a better GPU.
