Redmi teases packaging for K40 series, but is the charger included?
- The Redmi K40 series may arrive in two packaging sizes.
- This implies that Redmi may include the charger in the larger box, while ditching it from the smaller package.
- Xiaomi offered users a similar choice with the Mi 11 series.
Xiaomi announced the Mi 11 series with two packaging options beyond China — one included a charger while the other did not. Now, it seems that its sub-brand Redmi could offer consumers something similar when it launches the Redmi K40.
According to a teaser posted to Weibo by Redmi general manager Lu Weibing, the Redmi K40 may be offered in a “thick or thin” box. The implication is that the larger box may include a bundled charger and other additional accessories, while the other may house the phone and little else.
Of course, there’s a small chance that the teaser may simply be an opinion stirrer and nothing more. Redmi may opt to include the charger regardless of packaging size.
Earlier this month, Weibing revealed that the Redmi K40 price will start at 2,999 yuan (~$463), will feature a flat display, and a battery capacity greater than 4,000mAh. However, Weibing did not shed light on whether the charger will be included in the box.
More and more smartphone firms have committed to dropping the charger from their smartphone packaging. Samsung, most recently, launched the Galaxy S21 series without in-box bricks. Apple arguably made the practice somewhat acceptable with the iPhone 12 line. The Redmi K40 series could be the latest.
