Redmi Note 9 Pro specs leak: Still offering a ton of bang for your buck?
The Redmi Note line is arguably the Xiaomi sub-brand’s most popular family of smartphones, selling millions of units around the world. The next Redmi Note generation is due for a reveal in India on March 12, and it looks like specs have just leaked.
Prolific teen tipster Ishan Agarwal has revealed the apparent Redmi Note 9 Pro specs on Twitter, and it ticks several boxes for a budget phone in 2020.
According to Agarwal, the phone will have a Snapdragon 720G chipset, 4GB to 6GB of RAM, 64GB to 128GB of storage, and a 6.67-inch FHD+ LCD screen with a punch-hole. The tipster suggests that the phone is equipped with a 60Hz refresh rate rather than the 90Hz or 120Hz rate seen on the realme 6 series and POCO X2 respectively.
Can confirm the specs of #RedmiNote9Pro:
-Aurora Blue, Glacier White & Interstellar Black
-4GB+64GB & 6GB+128GB.
-6.67″ FHD+ 20:9 LCD Gorrila Glass 5 Display
-16MP Punch Hole Front Camera
-48MP Main, 8MP Ultra-Wide, 5MP Macro & Depth Camera
-SD720G, 5020mAH Battery, 18W Charging pic.twitter.com/0yk5hWxEwm— Ishan Agarwal (@ishanagarwal24) March 9, 2020
Agarwal also says the phone will have a 5,020mAh battery with 18W charging, although an FCC listing for an upcoming Redmi phone (believed to be the Redmi Note 9 Pro) lists 27W charging.
Switching to the camera side of things, the phone is believed to offer a 16MP selfie camera and a quad rear camera setup. You can apparently expect a 48MP primary camera, an 8MP ultra-wide snapper, 5MP macro sensor, and a depth sensor.
It looks like you’ll be getting a battery bump and possibly a minor processor upgrade over the Redmi Note 8 Pro then. But the older device will have a higher resolution main camera sensor if these disclosed specs bear out. The leaked Redmi Note 9 Pro specs also suggest a bigger battery and the same chipset as the realme 6 Pro, but realme’s device packs a 90Hz refresh rate and a 64MP main camera.
Nevertheless, here’s to the Redmi Note 9 Pro offering an enticing price tag, especially now that realme has bumped up the price of its latest phones. Its predecessor launched at Rs 14,999 (~$203) in India, but hopefully Redmi is able to dip even lower this time.
