TL;DR
  • Roborock is launching a new self-cleaning robot that can wash its own mop, empty its dustbin, and refill its own water tank.
  • It also has a new air-drying feature that prevents mold growth and odors.

Roborock has a new flagship robot vacuum to show off at CES 2023. The S8 Pro Ultra may sound like something made by Samsung and Apple, given the borrowed smartphone vocabulary, but its promised features are no joke. The new vacuum presents a complete end-to-end cleaning solution, allowing for automatic mop washing, dust emptying, refilling, and self-cleaning. Essentially, Roborock claims you won’t have to lift a finger if you get this Mercedes Benz of robot vacuums.

Of course, this isn’t something we’ve seen for the first time. Roborock also has the S7 MaxV Ultra in the market right now, which also comes with a “RockDock Ultra” docking station where the robot parks itself for self-maintenance. The S8 Ultra Pro is just a more powerful version of its predecessor, with stronger suction and a new air-drying feature that prevents mold growth and odors on the mop pad and the dock.

The rubber roller brush also gets an upgrade this year that improves dirt pickup, and the mopping system promises to scrub your floors at a frequency of 3000 times per minute.

Of course, the bot vacuum does all the other standard things, like avoiding obstacles, working with an app, mapping your floors, and more.

You can pick up a Roborock S8 Pro Ultra starting in April this year. Expect it to cost upwards of $1,000 as the S8 Series, which also consists of the standard S8 and S8 Plus vacuums, starts at $749.99.
