Samsung reportedly planning an 18.4-inch Android tablet
When it comes to Android tablets, 7, 8, and 10-inch are still probably the most common sizes, though there are a number of notable exceptions, including 5 and 6-inch mini ‘tabs’, and giants like the Fuhu 20 and 24-inch series. For Samsung, the product line-up tends to range between 7 and 12-inches, but according to a new report from SamMobile, Samsung is prepping a new massive Android tablet of its own.
The SM-T670, codenamed “Tahoe”, is a large tablet with an 18.4-inch TFT LCD display and a resolution of 1920 x 1080. The tablet is reportedly being designed for use in offices, schools, or as a family “living room” type device. If the report is correct, the Tahoe is powered by an Exynos 7580 with 2GB RAM, and 32GB storage with microSD for expansion. Other specs include a 2.1MP front cam, 8MP rear cam, and a 5700 mAh battery. Dimensions are said to be 451.8 mm wide, 275.8 mm tall, and 11.9 mm thick.
For what it is worth, this isn’t the first time we’ve heard about the SM-T670. Back in August import records leaked suggesting that Samsung was working on an 18.4-inch tablet, and so this latest report lends a little more credence to the idea. Of course, it is important to note that we can’t confirm SamMobile’s source and so we’d still take this rumor with a hefty grain of salt until more substantial evidence rears its head.
If Samsung really is planning a giant tablet, would anyone be interested in such a device? What potential use cases do you envision for such a monster?
