Leaked specs sheet for Samsung Android Go phone hints at European launch
- Leaked specs sheet for “SM-J260F” emerges.
- Model number suggests a European model of Samsung’s rumored Android Go phone.
- Quad-core Exynos 7570 SoC, 1GB of RAM, 16GB storage, Android 8.1 Oreo among rumored specs.
Speculation is growing that Samsung is working on a budget phone running Android Go. Now, just a few days after a casual reference to Google’s streamlined OS showed up in a benchmarking database for a new Samsung handset, a fresh leak has surfaced that allegedly reveals the phone’s key specs.
According to a spec sheet obtained by TechieDrive (via GSMArena), a phone carrying the model number SM-J260F is on the way running Android 8.1 Oreo.
The code follows the same naming pattern referenced in previous leaks, only with an “F” instead of “G” as the final letter, denoting two different regional variants. Based on Samsung’s model codes for other devices, the “F” variant may be heading to Europe.
This is backed up by the spec sheet which shows a quad-core Exynos 7570 SoC. Samsung has traditionally shipped phones with Exynos chipsets in Europe. The low-end processor is reportedly backed by 1GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, and a 2,600mAh battery. Elsewhere, the phone will apparently sport a 5-inch Super AMOLED display, an 8MP rear camera, and a 5MP selfie shooter.
While the spec sheet certainly fits the kind of hardware we’ve seen on phones running the stripped back version of Android, we’ll have to wait for official confirmation to know for sure if Samsung will be joining the Android Go family.
