Samsung confirms a new Galaxy FE phone is coming
- A Samsung executive has confirmed that a Galaxy FE phone is in the pipeline.
- The executive says an announcement about the phone will be made “imminently.”
Samsung hasn’t released a Galaxy FE smartphone since the Galaxy S21 FE back in January 2022. However, rumors are swirling that the Galaxy S23 FE could debut later this year.
Now, a Samsung representative has confirmed to Android Authority that a Galaxy FE smartphone will launch soon.
“There is an FE-sized gap between the Galaxy A54 5G and Galaxy S23, isn’t there?” we asked Justin Hume, vice-president of mobile for Samsung South Africa, in an interview.
“There is an FE-sized gap in there, right now,” the executive answered, before laughing. “There is going to be an announcement made. Imminently.”
In other words, the Galaxy S23 FE (or whatever it’s called) is indeed on the way, and we could see a launch or confirmation of a launch soon.
We already have a good idea of what the phone will look like based on leaked renders (see the image at the top of the page). Leaks also point to the upcoming FE model packing an Exynos 2200 chipset, although a more recent rumor points to a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 series chip for some regions. Other apparent specs include 8GB of RAM, 128GB or 256GB of storage, a 4,500mAh battery with 25W wired charging, and a triple rear camera system with a 50MP main shooter.
