TL;DR
  • Samsung has quietly launched the Galaxy A08 4G, successor to the Galaxy A07 4G, one of 2026’s best-selling Android phones.
  • The biggest upgrades are a larger 6,000mAh battery, improved IP64 protection, and Android 17 with One UI 9 out of the box.
  • Most other hardware stays familiar, while Samsung promises six Android OS upgrades and security support through September 2032.

The Galaxy A07 4G has had the kind of year most budget phones can only dream of. It finished Q1 2026 as the world’s best-selling Android phone, ranking fourth overall, and was still the second-highest Android model in Q2 after the Galaxy S26 Ultra took the Android sales crown. Those are massive shoes to fill, and Samsung is now sending in the Galaxy A08 4G with targeted upgrades rather than a full overhaul.

Samsung has quietly listed the Galaxy A08 4G on its official website in Bosnia and Herzegovina (spotted via SamMobile), revealing a phone that looks familiar on paper. The biggest change is the battery, which grows from 5,000mAh on the A07 to 6,000mAh. Samsung has also raised dust and water resistance from IP54 to IP64, giving the new model better dust protection while retaining splash resistance.

That larger battery comes with a physical trade-off. The Galaxy A08 4G is thicker and heavier at 8.0mm and 197g, up from 7.6mm and 184g on the A07. Samsung has effectively traded some of the A07’s slimness for an extra 1,000mAh of capacity, which feels like a sensible trade-off for this class of phone.

Most of the rest is carried over. You still get a 6.7-inch HD+ PLS LCD, MediaTek Helio G99, a 50MP main camera joined by a 2MP auxiliary sensor, an 8MP selfie camera, Bluetooth 5.3, USB 2.0, a headphone jack, and microSD expansion up to 2TB. Storage options span 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB, although Samsung’s listing currently shows only the 128GB model.

The Galaxy A08 4G ships with Android 17 and One UI 9, alongside Circle to Search and Samsung’s promise of up to six major Android upgrades and six years of security support through September 2032. The phone comes in Dark Blue, Silver, and Green, but Samsung hasn’t announced pricing yet.

For a successor to one of 2026’s biggest Android sellers, Samsung is playing it safe: keep the formula that worked, then strengthen the battery, durability, and software story where budget-phone buyers are most likely to notice.
