Samsung's new budget phone packs 50MP camera, 5G smarts for $249
- Samsung has announced its cheapest 5G smartphone in the US.
- The Galaxy A13 brings a 50MP primary camera, 6.5-inch 90Hz display, and Dimensity 700 SoC.
- Pricing starts at $249.
Samsung‘s Galaxy A series is arguably the firm’s most important line. Not often as hyped as its flagships, they serve as the backbone of its sales push in several markets, one of which is the US. Today, the company is adding to that lineup with the Samsung Galaxy A13.
The Galaxy A13 might not be hugely exciting on the surface, packing a minimalist rear and notched display, but it does bring some notable tech to the sub-$250 segment.
Headlining the Galaxy A13 offering is the MediaTek Dimensity 700 SoC. This chipset gives the phone Sub-6GHz 5G support at the company’s lowest price point yet. Buyers also get 64GB of expandable storage, a 5,000mAh battery, and 15W charging support. Up front, there’s a 6.5-inch 90Hz 1,600 x 720 LCD with a 5MP selfie shooter. At the rear, a 50MP camera joins two 2MP depth and macro cameras.
Other niceties include dual-band Wi-Fi 5 support, NFC for Samsung Pay, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a side fingerprint scanner.
