There are a few things to cover about this upcoming Android phone. We’ll let you know when you can pre-order, when you can buy, where it will be released, and more.
THE SHORT ANSWER
The Samsung Galaxy A34 release date will likely be March 30 in the US. You'll be able to buy it on general sale from April 6. The release date may be earlier in other markets.
KEY SECTIONS
When is the Samsung Galaxy A34 coming out?
Samsung announced the Galaxy A34 release today and is holding a launch event in India on March 16 at 12 PM IST (2:30 AM ET). In that respect, the Galaxy A34 is already out. But its release is being staggered across different markets.
Given how Samsung tends to operate, you can expect the phone to be available for pre-order in India after tomorrow’s launch event. The device is already available for pre-order in parts of Europe, as the listing on the Samsung Germany website testifies.
We understand that US customers will have to wait a little longer, with the Galaxy A34 release date not expected stateside until March 30.
Will the Galaxy A34 be available at launch?
The Samsung Galaxy A34 release date may have arrived in some regions, but it isn’t available to buy anywhere yet. Whenever it is launched in a particular country, you can be sure that it won’t immediately be available to purchase.
Samsung likes a pre-order period, which usually begins on the day the new phone is announced — both the Galaxy S23 series last month and the Galaxy A53 last year had a two-week pre-order period.
The pre-order period appears to be shorter for the new Galaxy A devices. In the jurisdictions where the phone was launched today, March 24 is the general sale date. That’s just over one week. We understand that the pre-order period in the US will be similar, with the March 30 pre-order start date followed by a general sale date of April 6.
What other products will Samsung be announcing in 2023?
Samsung hasn’t exactly been shy with product releases in 2023. We already saw the announcements of the Galaxy S23 series and the Galaxy Book 3 at the Galaxy Unpacked event last month, and now the arrival of the new Galaxy A phones is imminent. But you can bet that the manufacturer still has several new devices in store for the year.
We can be sure to see the launch of the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 at the end of the summer. The last three generations of these foldables all launched in August, and they’re a big deal for the OEM. In fact, the company wants its flexible line to become the “new standard” for smartphones.
The Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 will arrive this year.
In terms of tablets, there are several possibilities. We could see the Galaxy Tab S9 range make an appearance rather than a Galaxy Tab S8 FE. While the previous release schedules might hint toward 2024 for this lineup, there have been rumors swirling that the Tab S9 slates could arrive this summer. It’s also been two years since the launch of the Galaxy Tab A8 and Tab A7 Lite, so a Tab A9 and Tab A8 Lite are also distinct possibilities.
Based on the annual releases each year, the Galaxy Watch 6 and Watch 6 Pro will almost certainly be announced alongside the next-gen foldables in August. We had an FE model on our Samsung 2023 wish list that could offer a wearable option to budget buyers, but there’s no suggestion of that just yet.
Finally, you can bet your bottom dollar that we’ll see new earbuds. The Galaxy Buds 2 in 2021 were followed by the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro in 2022, so the most likely candidate for new audio later in the year would be the Galaxy Buds 3.
Will the Galaxy A34 be available globally?
The Galaxy A34 should be available in all major global smartphone markets. The Galaxy A series is Samsung’s mass-adoption range, so it makes sense that the phone is made available in all countries in which Samsung has a presence.
The Samsung press release referenced above is a global announcement and states the phone will be “available in March, starting with select markets in Europe and Southeast Asia.”
While it is difficult to be sure of every market in which you’ll be able to buy the Samsung Galaxy A34, you can be sure that North America, Europe, India, and Australia will all have it available. The Galaxy A33 was available in Mexico and other parts of Latin America, so it is likely that this will also be the case for the Galaxy A33.
FAQs
We don’t yet know how much the Galaxy A34 will cost in the US. The German listing is €389 for the base model, which is around the price of the previous generation handset. We would therefore expect the price to be around $399 in the US.
The Galaxy A34 has an IP67 rating, which isn’t the highest possible rating but it means the phone is water-resistant and can survive a quick dunk underwater.
The Galaxy A34 only has 25W wired charging.
