The first A-series phone is now getting stable Android 17 with One UI 9
Oct 7, 2026 — 4:18 AM ET

- Samsung has released the stable One UI 9 update for the Galaxy Quantum 7 in South Korea, making the Galaxy A57 5G the first A-series device to receive it.
- The update is based on Android 17 and includes expanded Quick Settings customization, Samsung Health upgrades, new security tools, Bixby improvements, and more.
- The US Galaxy A57 5G hasn’t received the update yet, but its close relationship with the Korean Quantum 7 suggests the stable rollout may not be far behind.
Samsung made an unusually big bet on its cheaper phones with One UI 9, inviting multiple Galaxy A-series models into a beta program normally dominated by its pricier flagships. That early testing is now beginning to pay off, with the Galaxy A57 5G becoming the first A-series device to join Samsung’s stable One UI 9 rollout on the same day the Galaxy S24 series and 2024 foldables got the update. But there’s an important catch for US owners itching to hit the update button.
The update has initially landed in South Korea on the Galaxy Quantum 7, the local counterpart to the Galaxy A57 5G. The stable Android 17-based release carries firmware version A576SKSU2BZIE, with Samsung’s official changelog dating the release to October 6. It also includes the September 5, 2026 security patch.
While the Quantum 7 wears a different badge, it is essentially the Korean flavor of the Galaxy A57 5G, sharing the same Exynos 1680 chipset and much of the same hardware underneath. That makes this rollout particularly interesting for A57 5G owners elsewhere, including the US. Samsung hasn’t announced when the American model will receive One UI 9, but after over a month of beta testing, the stable update now looks much closer.
And there’s plenty waiting on the other side. One UI 9 expands Quick Settings customization, adds a fast security-lock option and a clearer indicator when apps access your location, and gives Samsung Health a substantial redesign. Samsung is also adding Bixby conversation-history controls and a home-screen widget, several new accessibility tools, and a refreshed lock-screen clock.
The timing is especially nice for US buyers. The unlocked Galaxy A57 5G just dropped to a record-low $399.99 at Amazon for Prime Day, knocking $200 off its normal $599.99 price. So anyone picking one up during the sale may not have to wait long for Android 17 to become part of the package.
