TL;DR
  • Samsung will release the Samsung Galaxy A6 and Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.5 in the U.S. on September 14.
  • The Galaxy A6 will cost $359.99, while the Galaxy Tab A 10.5 will be $329.99.
  • Both the phone and the tablet are mid-range devices.

Samsung has announced that it is bringing the mid-range Samsung Galaxy A6 and Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.5 to the U.S. on September 14. While both the phone and the tablet have been known about for a while, this is the first time a U.S. release date has been confirmed.

In the same announcement, Samsung also said it would begin selling the Galaxy J3 and J7 unlocked on Samsung.com from the same day; although, these devices have been available via carriers since June.

Samsung Galaxy A6

Samsung has taken it’s time to release the Galaxy A6 in the U.S. It was first announced way back in May and has been available in Europe since soon after.

It’s a step down from both the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy A8, but its small bezels and lack of notch mean it is pretty recognizable as a Samsung Galaxy device. Of course, it’s also much cheaper than the two higher-end phones.

The Galaxy A6 has a 5.6-inch Super AMOLED 18.5:9 display, 16MP cameras at both the front and the back, and security features similar to those found on Samsung flagship devices like fingerprint sensors, facial recognition, and Samsung Knox.

The version coming to the U.S. will have 3GB RAM, an Exynos 7884 processor, and a 3,000mAh battery. In terms of storage, the phone has 32GB built-in as well as the option to add more with a microSD slot.

While Samsung has promised to bring innovative features to its mid-range devices in the future, the Galaxy A6 appears to be a decent, but fairly standard affair. For example, it would have been nice to see a dual-camera setup like the one found on the slightly cheaper Moto G6.

The phone has a recommended price of $359.99 and it will be available on Samsung.com from September 14 and on carriers soon after.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.5

The Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.5 was announced at the start of August alongside the more powerful Samsung Galaxy Tab S4. While the Galaxy Tab S4 focuses on productivity, the Galaxy Tab A 10.5 is more suited for multimedia.

It backs this up with a 10.5-inch, 16:10 LCD display and Quad Speakers. Like the Galaxy A6, the device is powered by 3GB of RAM and has 32GB of expandable storage, which is more than enough to store a few movies and games on. There is also an 8MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera.

There aren’t a ton of Android tablets available at the moment, so if you want if you want a new large screen device with mid-range specs, the Galaxy Tab A 10.5 may be your best option. It will be available at Amazon, Samsung.com, and Walmart for $329.99 from September 14, while an LTE version will be available at Sprint and Verizon later in the year.
