Galaxy A72 image leak points to headphone jack (Updated: Camera details)
- Samsung’s Galaxy A72 5G has apparently surfaced in a new leak ahead of its purported early 2021 debut.
- The phone would keep the headphone jack while boasting upgraded specs.
- Details of a quad-camera array at the rear have also emerged.
Update: December 18, 2020 (0:30 AM ET): Camera details of the Samsung Galaxy A72 have now also emerged, and they’re not what initial rumors suggested at all. Early reports hinted at a penta-camera array at the rear of the phone, but buyers will seemingly have to settle for four snappers.
Per Galaxy Club, two 5MP cameras will feature taking care of macro and depth capture duties. A 12MP sensor will also be included for wide-angle shots. Finally, the array will be headlined by a 64MP primary camera. The phone will not include a zoom lens.
Original article: December 16, 2020 (4:25 PM ET): The Galaxy A52 might not be Samsung’s only A-series phone getting an update in 2021. OnLeaks and Voice have offered renders of what they say is the Galaxy A72 5G, not to mention a few of its specs.
If the leak is accurate, the Galaxy A72 will share the updated design language of the upcoming A52. That not only includes the Note 20-style camera bump, “glasstic” back and hole-punch selfie camera, but a 3.5mm headphone jack — you might not have to worry about using wired headphones with Samsung’s upper mid-range handset.

The Galaxy A72 is expected to share many of the specs of the A52, just with a larger 6.7-inch screen size carrying over from the A71. That likely means a mid-range Snapdragon or Exynos processor, 5G and an in-display fingerprint reader. OnLeaks speculates that you’ll find a 64MP main rear camera, but that’s not guaranteed.
You could see the Galaxy A72 arrive in early 2021. If the A71 is any indication, it might be priced around $599. That could make it alluring over rivals like the LG Velvet, although it could face stiff competition from the Pixel 5 and OnePlus 8T when they’re on sale.
