New Samsung Galaxy Buds 'T1' leak reveals workout-focused design, battery specs, and features

Samsung appears to be preparing a major expansion of its wireless audio portfolio. Hot on the heels of leaked renders showing off the unique clip-on Galaxy Buds On and Samsung’s Galaxy headphones, a fresh report reveals more details about Samsung’s fitness-oriented pair of earbuds, previously known as the Galaxy Buds Canal 5, sporting an ear-hook design.

According to a report by SammyGuru, references to an unreleased audio wearable with the model number “SM-R545” and the internal codename “T1” were found in an unspecified APK file. Unlike the stem-style look of recent Galaxy Buds or open-ear cuff alternatives, line renders for the T1 show a design that apparently wraps around the ear to deliver a locked-in fit tailored specifically for workouts and running.

Code within the APK also appears to detail several core features, including an Earbud Fit Test and dedicated touch-and-hold gestures mapped independently for each earbud. By default, touching and holding the left earbud lowers the volume, while touching and holding the right earbud raises it. Users can also configure these long-press gestures to reject incoming calls, cycle through noise-control modes, or trigger voice assistants like Gemini and Bixby.

The app strings also point to an “Advanced quality options” menu, though it remains unclear which codecs the T1/Galaxy Buds Canal 5 would support.

In terms of specs, the leak reveals typical battery capacities: 63mAh per earbud and a hefty 595mAh in the charging case.

Between standard in-ears, open clips, and now an over-ear hook form factor, Samsung is clearly working to cover a wide variety of listening scenarios. We’ll be keeping an eye out for more details, such as final branding, launch dates, and pricing for these Buds Canal 5.
