Samsung's clip-on Galaxy Buds On renders surface in major new leak

Since April, we’ve known that Samsung has been working on a new audio product. Strings of code that Android Authority discovered in the Galaxy Buds app referred to the device as the “Galaxy Buds Able.” Over the months, more information has trickled in, revealing details such as the design, potential name, and more. As Samsung continues to prepare for an eventual launch, a new leak has given us our best look yet at the earbuds.

New images of Samsung’s upcoming clip-on earbuds have emerged online. Shared by the folks over at Android Headlines, the leak includes a close-up render and what appears to be marketing material for the unannounced product. In that marketing image, a person has one of the earbuds wrapped around the lower part of their ear, the same way you would wear Sony’s LinkBuds Clip or Bose’s Ultra Open Earbuds.

The earbuds consist of two rounded bulbs connected by an arched bridge. However, one side has a wider and flatter design. That part fits on the back of the ear, while the rounder end is the speaker that goes into the ear. There also appears to be a microphone, which will presumably be used to conduct calls.

For a while, it was unclear if Samsung planned to market these earbuds as the Galaxy Buds Able or if this name was just a placeholder. Back in July, a leaker claimed that the real name would be the Galaxy Buds On. This latest leak appears to further support those claims.

There’s still a lot to learn about these earbuds, but earlier reports have claimed that this device will use open-ear air conduction to direct sound into the ear. Rumors have also suggested that you’ll use nodding and shaking motions to initiate certain actions, like accepting a call.

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen the Galaxy Buds On. A leak from earlier this month extracted images from an internal build of the Buds Manager app. However, as mentioned earlier, this latest leak gives use our best look yet.
