30 days left to prepare your wallets: Galaxy Note 9 pre-orders tipped for mid-August
Samsung will reportedly open up pre-orders for its upcoming phablet, the Galaxy Note 9, from mid-August. Korean publication Chosun suggested the news in an article earlier today and echoed previous reports that the phone would be released on August 24.
Samsung is expected to make the Galaxy Note 9 available globally on August 24, so the mid-August pre-order window likely applies to global markets too.
The Galaxy Note series, one of Samsung’s two major flagship lines (the other being the Samsung Galaxy S series), sees yearly product releases. The Note phones are typically packed with high-end specs and usually draw a lot of attention — Samsung will no doubt shift them in millions of units. Nonetheless, the speculation regarding this year’s device hasn’t yet set our hearts on fire.
It appears the Note 9 may look almost identical to last year’s Galaxy Note 8, and while rumored features like its Bluetooth-enabled stylus might please long-time fans, it may not convince fence-sitters that it’s a world-beater.
Tempering expectations further are rumors of Samsung’s upcoming folding phone (possibly called the Galaxy X), which is tipped for release early next year. Those who could afford to buy an ostensibly expensive flagship like the Galaxy Note 9 might prefer to wait a few months to see what that’s all about instead.
