Buy a Galaxy S10 Plus now then upgrade to S10 5G for free, if you live Down Under
The Samsung Galaxy S10 5G won’t be available to buy for quite a while. However, if you happen to live in Australia, you could get one for free when it does arrive.
As one would expect, there is a catch (or three).
The first catch is that you have to be a Telstra customer. Telstra is the largest telecommunications company in Australia and operates the nation’s largest wireless network, so chances are good you might already be a customer.
The second catch is that you have to purchase a Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus through Telstra now. You’ll attach the S10 Plus to your account and use it as normal until the S10 5G launches.
The final catch is that, once the S10 5G is available, you’ll need to return your Galaxy S10 Plus “in good working order” in exchange for the 5G upgrade. The Samsung Galaxy S10 5G will then be attached to your account in place of the S10 Plus.
The good news is that when you do make the switch from the 4G device to the 5G one, your Telstra contract won’t extend.
All in all, this sounds like a pretty amazing deal. The Samsung Galaxy S10 5G will be a superior device to the Galaxy S10 Plus in numerous ways, including an extra camera lens and a bigger display. Invariably, the S10 5G will be more expensive than the S10 Plus, so you will, in a sense, be getting the S10 5G at a discount while getting to use the S10 Plus in the meantime.
So far, Telstra is the only wireless carrier we are aware of doing this kind of promotion.
