Last year, Samsung introduced Night Mode with the Samsung Galaxy S10 series. Similar to Night Sight on the Google Pixel 3, Samsung’s version optimizes photography during low-light scenarios. As one would expect, the camera feature is also coming to the Samsung Galaxy S20 series.

Now, via frequent leaker Max Weinbach, we have two sets of images pitting Night Mode on the Galaxy S20 against that of the Galaxy S10. Although this is a very limited sample set, the images do strongly suggest that the Galaxy S20 will be superior for low-light photography as compared to the Galaxy S10.

Check out the first set of images below. The Galaxy S10 shot is on the left and the Galaxy S20 shot is on the right:

Clearly, the Galaxy S20 Night Mode shot is better than the Galaxy S10 shot of the same scene. However, the Galaxy S20 shot still leaves a lot to be desired, especially with the clarity of the lawn.

Here are two more example shots. Once again, the Galaxy S10 is on the left and the Galaxy S20 is on the right:

This shot is interesting because of the light in the houses. See how things are blown out in the Galaxy S10 shot so you can’t even see the window frames? That problem is fixed incredibly well in the Galaxy S20 Night Mode shot.

Once again, these are two very limited examples so its important to not draw any final conclusions about this camera feature quite yet. Once the Galaxy S20 series is official and we have our own review unit, we will no doubt do our own in-depth testing of the camera, including the Night Mode feature.

In the meantime, though, what do you think? Sound off in the comments!
