Here's the new Samsung Galaxy S22 color: Bora Purple
- The Samsung Galaxy S22 has a new colorway called “Bora Purple.”
- Unlike the currently available Violet, Bora Purple features purple rails, making it unique to the line.
- The new colorway will be available starting at $799.99
To help drum up mid-cycle publicity, companies sometimes launch new colorways. Apple did it at WWDC 2022 with its green iPhone 13 models and now Samsung is doing it for its 2022 flagship.
The new Samsung Galaxy S22 colorway is known as “Bora Purple.” In Korean, “Bora” is a feminine name that translates to “purple.” So, in a way, this phone’s color is literally “Purple Purple,” which is fun.
Now, we know what you’re thinking: doesn’t Samsung already offer a Violet color for the Galaxy S22? And the answer to that is yes, but there are some differences here. First, the Bora Purple model has purple rails to match its purple back, while the Violet color has gold rails. Second, the Violet color is exclusive to Samsung.com, while Bora Purple is not.

Price and availability
Thankfully, you don’t need to spend extra cash on the Bora Purple Galaxy S22, as it’ll be available for $799.99 from August 10. That’s the same day as Samsung’s Unpacked event, where it’s expected to launch the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4. Otherwise, the Bora Purple S22 will be available from Samsung.com, AT&T, T-Mobile, UScellular, Verizon, and Xfinity Mobile.
Samsung also confirmed that the Bora Purple colorway would be “first for the S22” but that it will come to new Galaxy devices later this year.
