This special edition Galaxy S23 Ultra is less special than expected
- The Samsung Galaxy S23 BMW M Edition has been announced.
- The Galaxy S23 phone itself is totally normal, but it comes with a bunch of BMW swag.
- You’ll pay KRW 1,727,000 (~$1,370) for the set, but it’s limited to just 1,000 units.
Samsung partners with brands all the time for major phone releases. There have been Star Wars phones and even BTS phones (BTS being the K-pop superstars). Samsung’s newest partnership is with German automaker BMW, with the two creating a special edition package for the Galaxy S23 series (via BMW Blog).
The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra BMW M Edition is a giant package with the phone and a ton of BMW gear. It all comes in a box that’s shaped like the front of a BMW M. You can see all the swag in the image above or the video below.
Interestingly, the phone itself is just a normal Galaxy S23 Ultra. There’s no unique colorway or features. It appears to have a unique Android wallpaper that ties in with the BMW theme, but other than that, this is the same phone you could get from any other retailer.
That means you’re getting this for all the BMW stuff rather than the phone. The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra in the package is the 512GB version, which would normally cost KRW 1,720,400 (~$1,365). This package costs KRW 1,727,000 (~$1,370), so you’re only spending the equivalent of $5 for a ton of BMW trinkets. That’s not bad, but it’s disappointing there’s nothing unique about the phone.
Good luck getting one of these, though. There are only 1,000 units available, which will likely make these a hot collector’s item. Don’t be surprised if you find it on eBay soon for a lot more money than what someone paid for it.
