TL;DR
  • Samsung is close to finalizing the production schedule for the upcoming Galaxy S27 series.
  • The key components for the base and the Galaxy S27 Plus phones have been finalized, while Samsung is exploring upgrading the RAM and storage of the Pro and Ultra models.
  • It remains to be seen how those choices affect the prices.

Preparations for the Galaxy S27 series launch are in full swing, with the phones now in the late stages of planning. A recent rumor says Samsung may have finalized key components and could launch the devices ahead of last year’s schedule.

According to tipster Lanzuk, also known by their username yeux1122 on Naver, a Korean micro-blogging platform, the Galaxy S27 series is on schedule to launch in January — earlier than releases in the past few years. The release could slip into “February at the latest,” according to the tipster.

In line with this intended launch window, Samsung is reported to have already finalized the selection of components for the Galaxy S27 series. The device is supposedly also moving into the schedule management phase, suggesting mass production could begin soon.

At the same time, Samsung faces some blockers before it can proceed with production. The company is reportedly exploring upgrading the storage and RAM to newer UFS 5.0 and LPDDR6 standards, specifically for the Galaxy S27 Pro and Ultra models. However, that would also further increase manufacturing costs — on top of already booming memory costs — and consequently, put more pressure on Samsung to absorb them.

Earlier this month, Samsung reportedly asked suppliers to cut supply by up to 30%, so it could make fewer phones, rather than make a loss on phones. Meanwhile, it also raised Galaxy S26 prices in Korea and the US to offset rising costs.

Aside from the memory crunch, Samsung may have another problem at hand. It is reportedly facing delays with the Galaxy S27 Ultra pre-production testing because of heating issues with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, which may force it to use an Exynos 2700 on the Ultra. Qualcomm has also refuted the report, especially the part about the chipset overheating, multiple times since it came out.

We hope to know more when Samsung moves forward with starting production of the Galaxy S27.
