TL;DR
  • A pair of unannounced athletic earbuds from Samsung has now been certified in China and Korea.
  • The earbuds, known as both the Galaxy Buds Canal 5 and the Galaxy T1, feature an ear-hook design.
  • Price, specs, and availability info remain unknown.

We’ve been seeing leaks about an unannounced pair of Samsung earbuds with a wrap-around shape since June. Initially referred to as the Galaxy Buds Canal 5, leaks last month pointed to a large battery cell in the buds’ charging case and the existence of unspecific “Advanced quality options.” Now, the earbuds — internally referred to as the Galaxy T1 — have appeared in a Korean database, indicating they could be released soon.

SammyGuru spotted the new listing on Korea’s National Radio Research Agency database. The listing itself doesn’t actually tell us much; there aren’t any specs or product details included. But we can see that the certification was granted just yesterday, and that the earbuds will be manufactured in both China and Vietnam.

SammyGuru also notes that the unannounced Galaxy Buds were authorized by the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology about a month ago. Taken together, the two certifications in quick succession make for good evidence that Samsung’s unannounced athletic earbuds could be coming soon.

Samsung quietly launched another pair of earbuds just a couple of weeks ago in the Galaxy Buds On, its first clip-on earbuds. Those will initially be released in Korea on October 27. It’s not clear when or where the recently certified Galaxy T1 will be released, or how much they’ll cost. We’re expecting an event to launch the Galaxy S27 series early next year. If we haven’t seen official info about the new earbuds by then, it’s possible they could launch alongside Samsung’s next flagship phones.
