Hands-on: The Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 is really great and expensive (Updated)
Update: September 26, 2019 – If you get the Samsung Galaxy Tab A6, you can also get its Keyboard Cover for 50% off its normal price for a limited time at Samsung.com
Original article, July 18, 2019 (5:10PM EST): Ahead of the Galaxy Note 10 event taking place next week, Samsung today announced the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6. The Galaxy Tab S6 is Samsung’s latest flagship Android tablet and the successor to 2018’s Galaxy Tab S4.
Dominating your view is a 10.5-inch AMOLED display with a 2,560 x 1,600 resolution. Even though the display size and resolution remains the same as the Galaxy Tab S4’s, the Galaxy Tab S6’s overall footprint is appreciably smaller. The new tablet is also lighter than its predecessor — it weighs 420g, while the Galaxy Tab S4 weighs 482g.

The 8MP front camera supports facial recognition, while the dual rear-camera system is the first we’ve seen on a Samsung tablet. In this case, the Galaxy Tab S6 features a 13MP primary sensor and a 5MP depth sensor.

It also has four AKG-tuned speakers, a USB-C port, and a rear-mounted groove that magnetically keeps the S Pen attached. Thankfully, the S Pen is included in the box free of charge. The magnetic groove also charges the S Pen, which color-matches with the Galaxy Tab S6. Unfortunately, you won’t find a headphone jack.
The Galaxy Tab S6 features the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor, 6 or 8GB of RAM, 128 or 256GB of expandable storage, and a 7,040mAh battery. Rounding out the feature set are support for Samsung Dex and Bixby, four pogo pins to use with the optional keyboard cover, and Android 9 Pie underneath One UI.
The Galaxy Tab S6 is now available for pre-order in three colors: Cloud Blue, Rose BLUsh, and Mountain Grey. Only the Wi-Fi version is available for pre-order, as of this writing — the LTE variant will be available at some point.
You can pre-order the tablet from Samsung and Amazon at the links below:
The Galaxy Tab S6 doesn’t come cheap, though. The 128GB version sells for $650, while the 256GB version sells for $80 more. The keyboard cover is an extra $180, bringing the grand total to at least $830.
However, Samsung takes 50 percent off the keyboard cover when you pre-order the Galaxy Tab S6. The company also throws in a four-month YouTube Premium trial with your pre-order. Full retail availability begins Friday, September 6.
