iPhone Duo may have inadvertently helped Galaxy Z Fold 8 sales

Analysts quoted by the publication say this alleged surge is due to “pent-up demand” among consumers. Additionally, the iPhone Duo not being available until the latter half of October appears to have factored into this.

More importantly, the price difference between the base models of both foldables in South Korea may have played a part as well. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 in South Korea starts at 2.28 million won (~$1,645), while the iPhone Duo in the same configuration goes up to 3.29 million won (~$2,375).

Additionally, factors such as a thinner frame and a lighter body may have contributed to South Korean customers preferring the Galaxy Z Fold 8, according to Maeil Business News. There’s also a sense that people aren’t ready to spend big money on a first-of-its-kind iPhone until it’s released and reviewers have covered every aspect.

As the publication rightly points out, it’s too early to say whether either foldable has the upper hand in this face-off, especially since the iPhone Duo hasn’t reached consumers yet. In any case, the Z Fold 8 clearly has the price advantage over Apple’s foldable in all markets, though more so in some than others.
