Does YouTube look weird on your Galaxy Z Fold 8? You’re not alone
Oct 12, 2026 — 12:33 PM ET

- Some Galaxy Z Fold 8 owners are facing an irritating issue with the YouTube app wherein video thumbnails appear misaligned.
- A handful of users have complained about this issue, though it doesn’t seem to affect every Z Fold 8 user right now.
- It’s unclear whether the bug is related to the YouTube app or Samsung’s latest foldable.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 has been on the market for several weeks now. While we’ve seen some issues pop up, they haven’t affected the company much, with demand supposedly spiking in recent weeks. However, recent user reports suggest that the company’s latest foldable may not be playing nice with a popular video streaming app.
In a complaint posted to Samsung’s community forum on Sunday, a Galaxy Z Fold 8 user describes a bug in the YouTube app where video thumbnails appear misaligned. The issue seems to persist on the Z Fold 8’s cover screen and inner display.
Samsung support has since commented on the glitch and asked the user to share more information, including a screen recording.
The company’s online forum isn’t the only place we’re seeing this issue with YouTube thumbnails, as another Z Fold 8 user raised similar concerns in a Reddit post last week.
For context, the user says they’re seeing both oversized and undersized thumbs and adds that some automatically resize when scrolling through the feed. They clarify that they haven’t seen this issue on the Galaxy Z Fold 6, suggesting it may be limited to Samsung’s new foldable.
In response, another user says clearing the app’s cache and storage, then reinstalling it, could solve the issue. That said, it doesn’t seem to affect every Galaxy Z Fold 8 owner, with some having no issues with the YouTube app at all.
Are you seeing oddly aligned YouTube thumbnails on your Galaxy Z Fold 8?
Based on the comments under the Reddit thread and on Samsung’s forums, this bug may be related to the YouTube app, not the foldable itself.
However, it’s too soon to say either way, particularly since we haven’t heard from YouTube yet. To that end, we’ve reached out to Google to understand whether this is related to a recent bug and if a future update could make the video thumbnails appear more normally on the Galaxy Z Fold 8. We’ll update you if we hear anything useful in response.
