Samsung could have two more foldable surprises in 2027, for a total of six new foldables
Oct 15, 2026 — 8:53 AM ET

- A new leak claims Samsung’s 2027 Galaxy Z lineup could include six devices, including a Galaxy Z Fold 9 Pro and a Galaxy Z Slide.
- The tipster also claims improvements in battery, thickness, and weight across the lineup, with the TriFold 2 set to arrive first.
- Samsung has demonstrated slidable display technology, but the six-device lineup remains unverified, and earlier reporting points to a 2028 rollable launch.
Samsung had barely unveiled the Galaxy Z Fold 8 family and Z Flip 8 when reports emerged suggesting its 2027 flagship lineup could grow to eight phones, including four foldables. That already sounded ambitious. Now, a fresh leak adds two more names to the Galaxy Z guest list, and one suggests Samsung’s next trick might involve less folding and more stretching.
According to tipster TheGalox on X, Samsung’s 2027 lineup will include the Galaxy Z Flip 9, Z Fold 9, Z Fold 9 Ultra, and Z TriFold 2 — the four devices in that earlier report. Joining them would be the Galaxy Z Fold 9 Pro and Galaxy Z Slide. The tipster also claims improvements in battery life, thickness, and weight across the lineup, with the TriFold 2 arriving first.
The overlap with previous reporting is interesting, but it doesn’t corroborate the two additions. While the familiar names suggest successors to Samsung’s existing foldables, the Pro introduces another potential tier. It could sit between the Z Fold 9 and the Z Fold 9 Ultra, retaining a similar design to either model while adding or sacrificing some premium features. But that’s speculation based on its name; the leak offers no specifications or design details.
The Slide is the stranger proposition, though it didn’t appear out of nowhere. In June, reports emerged that Samsung was developing a rollable phone, provisionally called the Z Slide. Instead of unfolding, such a device could reveal more screen as its body slides outward.
Samsung Display has demonstrated something comparable. Its Mobile Slidable concept at MWC 2026 expanded upward from 5.1 to 6.7 inches, offering a glimpse of how an expandable phone might work. That’s evidence of working technology, but it doesn’t confirm the existence of a commercial Galaxy Z Slide.
The timing raises another question. Previous reports claimed Samsung was targeting a first-half 2028 unveiling of a rollable phone. Plans could have changed, but this latest leak alone isn’t enough to move that date forward. For now, Samsung has shown the technology can work. But whether it’s ready to put a Galaxy Z Slide on shelves in 2027 remains to be seen.
