Samsung Gear Fit 2 Pro revealed on Samsung Spain web portal
We know that Samsung is going to launch its Galaxy Note 8 smartphone later today, but rumors circulating recently suggested that the Gear Fit 2 Pro might appear at the New York Event too. This, it seems, may have been accurate, as the watch has now broken cover on Samsung’s official site.
The listing was spotted on Samsung’s Spanish portal by Dutch Samsung fan site GalaxyClub (via Sam Mobile) and includes many details about the new fitness band.
The device appears to be going on sale in black and red color variants which, it seems, will be functionally identical. The Gear Fit 2 Pro features a 1.5-inch AMOLED display with 216 x 432-pixel resolution, 4 GB of internal storage space and 200 mAh battery inside.
The device features Bluetooth 4.2 and GPS, and tracks fitness activities and sleep. As for dimensions, the Gear Fit 2 Pro comes in at 51 mm x 25 mm and it weighs 34 g. It’s also water resistant to 5 ATM, the equivalent of around 50 meters, besting the original Gear Fit 2’s IP68 certification (which supports depths of up to 1.5 meters). Additionally, the device supports more than 3,000 apps, including Spotify.
Pricing and availability details aren’t listed on the website, but we may find out more about this later; it’s likely to cost a bit more than its predecessor.
GalaxyClub notes that the device has been unveiled on the Malaysian website too, though we don’t know exactly why the details are up and available on those domains — it still hasn’t appeared on the US version, and Samsung hasn’t issued a press release to announce it. It’s possible that the details are up by mistake.
