Samsung Gear S3 gets another update to improve battery life
Samsung is rolling out a new update for the Gear S3 smartwatch. The upgrade comes in at around 39MB and improves Bluetooth stability and battery life.
The news arrives via SamMobile and follows a previous battery-related update rolled out last Christmas. That patch addressed a power drain issue brought about by a recent upgrade, but it appears there was still further room for improvement.
The update is said to be rolling out now in the US, Canada, and South Korea, bringing devices up to firmware version R760XXU2CRC3. Check the About Gear > Update Gear page in the Samsung Gear app’s settings menu on your smartphone to see if your Gear S3 is ready to receive it.
Last November, a year after the smartwatch first launched, Samsung rolled out a big update that improved its fitness tracking features and user-interface in some key areas; there are already rumors circulating about a potential Gear S4, but lets hope Samsung doesn’t abandon the S3 completely once its successor lands.
When we see this update roll out in other territories, we’ll let you know.
