Samsung Health bug leaves users with missing step history
Nov 6, 2026 — 3:37 PM ET

- Samsung Health users report that step counts recorded before November 2 have disappeared from the app’s Steps section following a recent update.
- The missing records remain accessible through Daily Activity, suggesting the data hasn’t been permanently deleted.
- Some users suspect a connection to the end of daylight saving time, but the cause remains unconfirmed.
Updates are supposed to make apps better, whether that’s by introducing new features, refreshing the UI, or improving performance, but it’s a different story when those very updates end up breaking functionality that worked perfectly fine before — yet that’s seemingly what some Samsung Health users are experiencing right now.
Several Samsung Health users are reporting that their historical step counts have disappeared from the app. Most of the affected users say this happened after the November 2nd Samsung Health update. More specifically, those users say step counts recorded prior to November 2nd aren’t showing up in the app’s Steps section. Checking the same dates on the app’s Daily Activity section still highlights the step counts.
This suggests that the data hasn’t been deleted outright — it’s just not appearing in the dedicated Steps section.
Disgruntled users have taken to Reddit and Samsung’s Community forum to report the issue. One user even shared a video highlighting the discrepancy in action:

The video clearly highlights step counts displayed as “0” for older dates, even though the same records remain visible in Daily Activity. A different user corroborated the findings:
I have a Fold 8 Ultra. Lost steps after the latest software update for Health. Restarting phone, emptying cache, and reinstalling solutions didn’t work. Steps do show up in activity summaries so the data is buried there somewhere, just not visible in steps before Nov 2.
Some users argued that the issue could be related to the end of daylight saving time, and there’s some weight to that. In a different Samsung Community post, an affected user confirmed that the app still stored the missing data by manually changing their phone’s system date to November 1. Doing so brought the step count back. Reverting to November 2 caused the count to disappear again.
The discovery suggests that the new bug could have something to do with how Samsung Health manages date and time changes. It’s not a certainty; it’s a possibility.
It’s unclear how widespread the new issue is, but it definitely isn’t an isolated one. Affected users are suggested to submit a bug report via Samsung Members > Support > Send feedback. Considering that the data is still there and simply out of view, there’s no big reason to panic about losing your data permanently.
We’ve reached out to Samsung to ask if it’s aware of the issue. We’ll update this article if and when we hear back.
